Joy, yes joy. This is one of my joys in life…I have many…
One being that I have been soaking up every. single. second. with our sweet Kayden Bryn and enjoying my little break from shooting (…and blogging!) immensely and giving all of my attention to her. To recap I last posted on my (old) blog (of which I’ll be slowly archiving and including in here) a little over a year ago that I was taking a leave, and I did just that; took a leave for a year. I chose to temporarily suspend business to enjoy my pregnancy and be with our baby girl for those first months…well a little more than the first few
but trust me you would find it difficult to return so soon as well, and that’s one of the luxuries I have and took advantage with having my own business!
Yep, last July we gave birth to our baby girl and she stole our hearts and ALL of our attention the very second she came into this world! Now that we have adjusted to life (it’s taken a little longer than I anticipated…actually I’m still trying to adjust) with this amazing little being that has captured our hearts, I’m able to come back and give the attention to my clients and business again. I haven’t been “photographing” (besides iPhone pics) her as often as I thought we would be…it’s really so very different when it’s your own baby… you know you tell yourself I’ll get some shots later when she wakes up or later when she is napping…well you know how that goes
. Seriously though there have been lots of pics taken of her though, just not with the gear. It’s so hard at times to grasp that she is 9 months old already!
I officially got back behind the camera again last week, shooting two high school senior portrait sessions. Although, I was a little nervous after not shooting for so many months! Thankfully I have the best most amazing and beautiful clients that they help make my job so easy and relaxed! Kayden was right there with us for one of the shoots and I’m so thankful for being so lucky to do what I love and how much my job doesn’t feel like job!
Now that I’m back from maternity leave I’m booking for remaining spring and summer sessions. Update though – I’m no longer booking weddings but I am booking engagement and bridal sessions still. Ken is assisting me occasionally, not for all sessions though. My calendar is filling up fast so call or email me soon to book. Now that we have this sweet little being in our lives my scheduling has changed a bit. I’m only booking lifestyle portrait sessions on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday’s. There is exceptions being made for newborn sessions (they have their own schedule, and don’t always fit into what our schedules normally would be)
What does that mean for you? It means that there is a possibility of fewer session openings at the last minute. This will likely happen during the busier seasons – Spring, Summer and during the Holidays – (Thanksgiving, Christmas). So booking early is even more important! As of right now I have two Saturday sessions in May and several weekday sessions still available.
I’m hoping to get back to blogging regularly again soon…and I’m looking forward to capturing joy & seeing some of my favorite clients from the past and meeting some new ones too!
and because I cannot ever post without including a photo, here are a few of our pequeña from birth, 9 days & 9 months
adeus for now!
